The second stage of works has been completed at Hawaiian’s Forrestfield shopping centre, with fencing coming down to reveal the new community space, The Junction.
The pedestrianisation of the internal road, The Junction, creates a physical connection between the two buildings and better integrates with the local surrounds. Incorporating a nature play area, alfresco dining and extensive greenery, the space will allow for extended dining and lifestyle offering while balancing with the traditional shopping centre offering.
Hawaiian Director and CEO, Russell Gibbs said he is happy with how the new pedestrianised area has developed, with the design to create a place for the community to engage with.
“We want to create shopping centres that add to our local residents’ lifestyle. Instead of standing alone, we want Hawaiian’s Forrestfield to complement it’s immediate surroundings and become part of the bigger community hub.” Mr Gibbs added
The first new food tenant, Big T’z American Diner, will open its doors on Friday 9 December with Dome to join the centre by mid 2017.
Further works will commence in 2017, which will see further reconfiguration within the buildings to make better use of the floor space.
